Mourning Tea

 Melinda's Enchanted Cottage presents our annual Mourning Tea. On one of the most mysterious nights of the year, when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest, witches gather to celebrate the lives of those loved ones who have crossed over to the spirit world. Join Melinda's Enchanted Cottage in grand Victorian tradition as we celebrate your dearly departed during  a three course High Tea.  Harken back to the lush and extravagant mourning traditions of the Victorian era....when it was custom to wear black for a year, locks of hair were carried around as tribute to those who had past and somber music filled the air in celebration and remembrance of the deceased. Don your finest mourning attire, celebrate the lives of your loved ones through stories, photos, poetry and memories.  Add mementos to our witches book of the dead, immortalize your loved on with this special tribute, receive message in the tea leaves with one of our readers and enjoy an elegant afternoon of high tea.

Event Highlights 1) enjoy a grand Victorian high tea, complete with 3 courses of traditional tea sandwiches and deserts. 2) share stories, photos and memories of the beloved souls who have touched your life. 3) create and place a memorial page of photos, letters, poetry and other memories of your loved one to put into our witches book of the dead. 4) divine messages from the other side with patterns of the tea leaves. Readings with Norfolk's practicing witches, Melinda and Jeremy.

What to Wear

Choose to wear Victorian garb, gothic attire, or simply black. Wear what your culture dictates is appropriate or what you feel honours your loved one.

What to bring

Photos, stories, poetry, and memories of your loved one.  If you would like your tribute to remain in the book of the dead please use photo copies of all memorabilia.  Your items should not exceed an 8x11 sheet of paper.
