Dumb Supper

 Melinda's Enchanted Cottage is pleased to present an evening with the dead. Join the witches of Norfolk for a traditional dinning experience with your dearly departed. The "Dumb Supper" has been an event passed down for centuries, and used as  a way of honouring those who have passed over to the other side. The "Dumb Supper" is just as it sounds, a silent supper where we invite the dead to dine with us.  As the veil thins and Samhain approaches, our thoughts turn towards our beloved dead. As witches, we know that our ancestors are with us always; but a dumb supper, a meal for the dead, is the perfect way to honor your ancestors, family, and friends, who have already moved on to the next stage of their journey.

Melinda's Enchanted Cottage will guide you on your journey.... The evening opens with a blessing where each guest is guided through the veil between the worlds to the realms of the dead where no one living may speak. Participants place their photos and mementos on an altar, at which time they are then seated and the feast is served. Allow yourself to be open to the language of the dead. Each year, the spirits have manifested in a variety of ways. Guests have recalled a ghostly touch, the scent of perfume, whispered messages, and even physical manifestations. By remaining slient, you open your heart and mind to those who have crossed over. On this evening you are expected to remain silent during our meal "Dumb Supper", and our evening will be carried out in reverse, in order to reflect the spirt world and make it inviting for our ancestors.  Before and after the meal we will have time to converse and participate in planned activities and share your experiences of the evening.

Planned Activities For the Evening

1.Letters to your loved ones: using quills and herbal inks, compose a message or letter to your loved ones to place on our alter. 2.Honouring your ancestors: a ritual to honour your descendants, those who came before you. 3.Crossing the veil: walk with Melinda's Enchanted Cottage to the realm of the dead where spirits walk freely.  This ritual is to guide you into the spirit world where the rest of our evening takes place. 4.The "Dumb Supper": enjoy a silent feast with the dead.  Melinda's Enchanted Cottage will be your host for this elegant 5 course meal. 5.Releasing Ceremony: Melinda and Jeremy will help you send off your sacred letters and messages to those intended during our releasing ceremony. 6.Readings with the witches of Norfolk: this is your opportunity to sit down one on one with our readers and converse with your loved ones through us. 7.Moment of reflection: enjoy the rest of the evening sharing and reflecting on the events of the night. How did your loved ones communicate? What messages did you receive?

Menus will be provided upon purchase of your ticket.  3 options are available including vegetarian meal plans. The meal will take place at 7pm.

Dress Please feel free to attend in costume, ceremonial robes, funeral attire, evening wear or comfortable clothing.

Things to Bring Memorial items, pictures, trinkets all belonging to or in remembrance of your dearly departed.  Melinda's Enchanted Cottage will provide everything else you need for the evening.

We would like to remind everyone the meal portion of our evening is silent, so all cell phones will need to be turned off for approximately 1hr between 7-8pm.
